Two Food Principles- Moving from Medical Care to HealthCare
TWO PRINCIPLES
Jesus was once asked to rule on the 10 commandments that Moses had given. Asked to determine the greatest commandment, He snuck in two for one and said, “The first one is ,” Love the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and soul. The second is love your neighbor as yourself”. This was His summary of the Ten Commandments, which the rabbis had increased to 613, and the Mishna multiplied ad infinitum, with arcane rules on everything, including [how to fold the clothes] on Shabbat! Two rules. Phew, Thank You Jesus.
Dr Robert Lustig, MD, introduced the concepts of diseases that are foodable, but not necessarily druggable. (Metabolic). Like Jesus, he also reduced the many rules and regulations that each dietetic specialist adds, often contradicting each other. Lustig’s rules are simple, common sense and scientifically sound. Feed the gut. Protect the liver. These two summaries are well worth the value of the book.
Two commands, two from Jesus and two from healthcare, are the north stars. Let's start there.
